I really enjoyed the EcoShock interview and appreciated the references to biochar, composting toilets and sewage issues, and simple landscaping techniques for trapping rainwater. So many easy solutions to so many problems are already available, and yet systemic (regulatory) barriers and social inertia prevent them from being widely applied.

If, for personal or professional reasons, you needed to live somewhere in the vicinity of city X (Denver, Houston, Cleveland, etc.) and could not adopt the sailboat lifestyle, what would you do to live in a way that embodies the same principles of autonomy, thrift, and low energy consumption?

Another general question I have is about student debt, which you touch on in the interview. In what cases would you recommend trying to pay off the debt, and at what point would you consider aiming for bankrupcy?

I am sure many people are interested in this same issue. Sometimes I wonder if the best form of societal protest would be for the largest number of young people possible to declare bankrupcy.

For those if you that don't want to hear endless droning about precious metal investing on "World Talk Radio", the Orlov interview begins at 31:50.
